Gotopo is a multi-talented singer, composer, producer, and performer who sees the future through her South American past. Skilled in folkloric string instruments, she creates techno-inspired music that reveals an Afro-Indigenous legacy.
Gotopo was born in Caracas, Venezuela, and began her musical training in the city of Barquisimeto, home to a renowned music conservatory. As a child, she trained with the El Sistema youth orchestra system, the influential program that trained Los Angeles Philharmonic conductor Gustavo Dudamel. Recently, Gotopo moved to Berlin, where she transitioned from street performer to curator and participant in cutting-edge music events at the prestigious Humboldt Forum.
Gotopo's debut EP, Sacúdete, reinvents folkloric music and practice, merging them with the electronic heat of Berlin's vibrant club scene.
“Berlin is particularly innovative in so many ways, fearlessly trying to break so many creative barriers,” she said. This EP is a collaboration with the award-winning Latin producer Don Elektron (a.k.a. Ulises Lozano), Simon Mejia (Bomba Estéreo), and Robot Koch.
