The composition of the future at Westway LAB is done together, circular, and collaborative.

Established in 2014 as the country’s first showcase festival and conference, which would later pave the way for the Portugal Country Focus at Eurosonic 2017, Westway LAB has proven to be a powerful laboratory for relationships, ideas, and business experiences in the music industry.

Over the past 11 years, Westway has brought together key partners (AMAEI, Fundação GDA, Antena 3, etc.) and helped produce several success stories in talent discovery, which have fueled the growth and international presence of Portuguese music. In particular, the European projects and international networks that Westway is part of stand out.

For the 12th edition, Westway, based on its identity, presents itself reconfigured and increasingly affirmed as a collective and collaborative process. Music will continue to be the central vehicle but will be accompanied by cinema, giving rise to the strong "sound & image" creation and empowerment duo.

The architecture of Westway is based on the LAB (artists-in-residence), the LIVE (concerts), and the MEETING (Conferences, Keynotes, Talks, Networking, Pitching).

We announce the first national and international participants of Westway MEETING, where we will discuss the future of “sound & image” with a focus on innovation, circularity, sustainability, and empowerment for internationalization. The Legendary Tigerman will be the keynote speaker, focusing on the relationship between music and cinema. Tiffany Fukuma, the new CEO of Keychange, will discuss the new challenges for equality in the industry. Paola Wescher, agent at Last Tour, promoter of Kalorama Festival, will bring a perspective on artist management and the connection to festivals. And Turo Pekari, from Music Finland, will address technological innovation and the challenges of AI in sound & image.
