What happens when an artist plays a space? VINstage is a cross-disciplinary music and video field recording production focused on interaction with a series of Europe's story-rich industrial archaeological sites. On location, a musician/composer/performer sonically experiments with selected built environmental spaces to produce exploratory and impromptu sound recordings unique to the site. Film footage of the musician-space interactions is simultaneously shot in a similar improvisational manner, harmonized with the interplay between the building and the performer. This initiative will produce a collection of filmed field recordings that are shaped into audiovisual works expressing what an industrial archaeological space can sound like when engaged in a multiple-character dialogue between the building, performer, and filmmaker.
